Julia Mager

Team Leader, Employment and Skills for Eastern Africa (E4D/SOGA) Uganda GIZ

Julia Mager is Team Leader Uganda for the regional employment initiative ‘Employment and Skills for Eastern Africa (E4D/SOGA)’. E4D/SOGA strives to improve employment opportunities in Africa in cooperation with the private sector. Co-funded by DFID, NORAD, EU and Shell, the initiative is implemented in Kenia, Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda.  A particular focus is placed on employment in natural resource-based industries and their supply chain sectors such as construction, infrastructure, transport and logistics, catering and food supply. Julia was involved in the E4D programme’s design at GIZ’s headquarters in Germany in 2014. In August 2018, she took over the programme’s diverse Uganda portfolio as Team leader.

For the last 6 years, Julia oversaw various partnership projects with the private sector in Africa for GIZ. Her previous roles include positions in Corporate Social Responsibility and Strategic HR. Julia holds a Diploma in International Management and Intercultural studies from the Universities of Passau, Germany and Stirling, UK.
