After graduating from University College, Swansea, UK, Geoff researched the sedimentology of the Carboniferous of South County Cork at University College Cork, Ireland.In 1986 he undertook a research fellowship at Kingston Polytechnic, studying the Triassic of southern Tunisia on behalf of Marathon Oil. From 1987-9, as a geologist for Kingston Geological Services, Geoff undertook outcrop and subsurface studies on behalf of various oil companies active in Tunisia, Colombia and the UK North Sea.
In 1989 Geoff changed direction, joining the Exploration Services dept. of Geco Geophysical, where he was responsible for interpretation products supporting non-exclusive seismic surveys, as well as instigating non-exclusive seismic surveys in support of licence rounds for governments in Gabon, Tunisia and Vietnam.
Geoff joined the West Africa group of Norsk Hydro in Oslo, Norway in 1997 heading a new ventures team assessing opportunities in Gabon, Congo, Nigeria and Benin. In 1991 he was transferred to Angola as Senior Staff Geophysicist, followed by two years in Libya before leaving Statoil/Hyrdo in 2008.This was followed by three years in Sana’a, Yemen as Senior Staff Geophysicist for Hunt Oil before taking up a similar role in Bucharest Romania between 2011 and 2015.
After a year’s “sabbatical” with his wife and two young sons at home in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Geoff joined Ghanaian start-up Springfield E&P in January 2017 as Principal Geophysicist.
