Thursday 07/11/2019

From 11:00 To 11:30

11/07/2019 11:00 11/07/2019 11:30 Advanced Analytics and Machine Learning TGS has embarked on a program to enhance the utility, level, and value of our offerings to the industry through applying artificial intelligence techniques (AI) to both our internal processes and to our industry-leading geoscience data library.  AI is powered by three engines; algorithms, compute power and data and TGS is uniquely positioned within this space to harness the power of AI.

A high-level review of the terms AI, Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) will be given along with examples from general use of these techniques recognizable to all and how they can be applied to problems within oil and gas exploration and production.

There are now many technology start-ups within the oil and gas sector that are racing to apply AI to industry data sets and problems. What are the easy problems already solved and why? What are the medium- and long-term problems still awaiting solutions and what are the major hurdles to clear?

Finally, some thoughts on how AI will transform the industry in terms of efficiency, complexity of data analysis and accuracy of our predictions
