Congo Bidding Round

The ministry of Hydrocarbons of the Republic of Congo will be promoting the Congo-Brazzaville Licence Round Phase 2 2018/19 at Africa Oil Week. The Ministry is currently finalising details and expects to use what is Africa’s most important oil & gas summit to act as a springboard for the success of this bidding round.

Host: Hon Minister Jean-Marc Thystère Tchicaya, Minister of Hydrocarbons - Republic of the Congo
Partner: PGS
Time: 15.30 - 17.30, Tuesday 6 November

Hon Minister Thystère Tchicaya went on to say, “The Republic of Congo will focus on building on the momentum of Licence Round Phase 1 in 2016, which saw 30 international companies register to participate. The timetable for the Licence Round Phase 2 will see the opening of the call for tender in September 2018, followed by a major promotion campaign in Cape Town at Africa Oil Week in November 2018. The closing date for receipt of tender offers in Brazzaville will be June 30 2019.”

The Tender round closes in June 2019.
Covered under Phase 2 of the Congo-Brazzaville License Round are:

  • 3 onshore areas
  • 7 offshore shallow water areas
  • 5 offshore deep & ultra-deep areas
  • 5 onshore areas in the Cuvette Basin

Ghana Bidding Round

Delivered by Deputy Minister Amin Adam, the opening of the 2018/19 Ghana bidding round is an exclusive opportunity at Africa Oil Week bought to you by the Ghanaian Ministry of Energy and PGS.

Host: Hon Minister Adam Amin, Deputy Minister of Energy - Republic of Ghana
Partner: PGS
Time: 15.30 – 17.30, Thursday 8 November
Location: Prospect Forum

This hotly anticipated round will focus on six blocks ranging in size from 1,000 square kilometres which are in the highly prospective Western Basin. Two of the blocks are ultra-deep-water, at 3,000m+ and they carry 2D and 3D seismic data from the period of 2000–2013. AOW, PGS and the Ministry of Ghana welcome all delegates to attend the session.

Madagascar Licensing Round

OMNIS, Madagascar’s National Office of Mines and Industrial Strategies, in partnership with Africa Oil Week, TGS and BGP, will be presenting Madagascar’s latest bidding round in Cape Town this year, cementing the event’s status as Africa’s primary business platform.

Host: Voahangy Nirina Radarson, General Manager, OMNIS - Republic of Madagascar
Partner: TGS
Time: 13.00 – 13.30, Tuesday 6 November
Location: TGS Stand Exhibition Show Floor

“The Madagascar bidding round offers a level of excitement that we have never experienced before at the Oil Week. On top of the 15 confirmed ministers who will lead delegations to Africa Oil Week, we now have a partnership with the Government of Madagascar, TGS and BGP to host what is clearly one of the most exciting round on the continent since the Cote d`Ivoire bidding round in 2017,” adds Africa Oil Week’s Director Paul Sinclair.

Exploration in Madagascar began in the early 20th century with the discovery of heavy oil-rich sedimentary basins in the west, however this frontier region remains relatively under-explored. The Island shares a maritime boundary with Mozambique, which is in the same oil province where large quantities of natural gas have been discovered. Studies conducted in collaboration with TGS and BGP have resulted in new data that suggest there is significant potential for future discoveries both on and offshore.

Republic of Uganda Roadshow

Hon Irene Muloni, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, in the Republic of Uganda will lead a delegation of private and public players from Uganda’s oil and gas sector to the Africa Oil Week 2018.

Host: Hon Minister Irene Muloni, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development - Republic of Uganda
Time: 14.00 – 15.00, Tuesday 6 November
Location: Expo Seminar Theatre

Uganda is committed to developing its petroleum sector across the entire value chain, and clear strides to move the country’s key assets from exploration to the development phase have been made. Uganda offers opportunities for companies looking to explore, develop and utilise its petroleum assets.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development Robert Kasande said, “During the Africa Oil Week, we will host private meetings with the global private sector with a view to successfully attract capital in every stage of our oil and gas value chain.”

Operators, investors and service companies are encouraged to attend this year’s conference and take advantage of this chance to meet with officials from the Government of Uganda and the private sector. Doing so will present the opportunity to partner in one of the most commercially viable and prospective oil and gas environments in the world.
