Africa Oil Week launches AOWebinars series

Starting with “The promise of Mozambique: Updates on building a natural gas hub”

After the initial oil price shock and global turbulence caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the oil and gas sector is now adapting to what has been dubbed the “new normal”. Leading companies now understand that they must use this crisis to redefine their reasons for being and in some cases, transform their operations from the ground up.

Africa Oil Week believes that in tragedy there inevitably lies opportunity. As Africa’s leading business intelligence and deal-making platform for the oil and gas sector, we are committed to supporting our business community in navigating this crisis, so that the continent can emerge stronger and more resilient.

The new AOWebinars series offers the same high-level insights as the main Africa Oil Week conference, but in complimentary hour-long sessions that you can join from home. The webinars provide participants with the opportunity to share real-world challenges, solutions and best practices through actual case studies and scenarios.

The first webinar in the series will focus on Mozambique’s journey to becoming a natural gas hub, covering: the impact of COVID-19 on current projects, post FID opportunities, regional energy security and more. It will be led by senior industry experts, including Standard Bank’s Head of Oil and Gas for Southern Africa, EXIM’s MD for Project and Structured Finance and S&P Global Platts’ Global Director of LNG.

In June, we will unite senior representatives from major operators in Africa to discuss: the oil price, ESG investing, E&P opportunities and mitigating risk. The third AOWebinar in the current series will focus on technology and procurement, as Africa Oil Week recognises that driving optimum efficiency and visibility is crucial as operators reduce capex and seek to minimise costs.
